We invite you to discover Tarquinia through its charming alleys, a real journey through time along 3,000 years of history. Since the eighth century BC, the city has undergone a process of urban formation which has made it “large and flourishing” according to Dionysius Halicarnassus and “the richest in Etruria” according to Cicero.
You will have the opportunity to explore Tarquinia on your gravel bike, passing in front of numerous historic buildings, such as Palazzo Vitelleschi, home to the National Etruscan Museum of Tarquinia, considered one of the most important and richest Etruscan museums in Italy.
Tarquinia will offer you a unique experience, where history, archeology and gravel cycling come together in an extraordinary combination.

We’ll be honest, we traveled a lot before finding the right itinerary but now you have the opportunity to discover an incredible territory through dirt roads perfect for gravel and secondary roads.
You will be guided along a tested route, which will allow you to explore the wonders of this area in total safety. Every kilometer pedaled will be an opportunity to discover the best this land has to offer.

BEYOND THE BICYCLE
After an exciting cycling adventure, there is no better way to end the day than to delight in the authentic flavors of this part of Lazio. Here you can taste dishes that represent the culinary excellence of the region, satisfying every palate.
We will delight you with a selection of typical and high quality dishes, which you can enjoy in the refreshment points along the route or at the final refreshment point. Dishes prepared with skill and local ingredients, but also delicious cold cuts from local farms.

How can I participate in the Unpaved Roads Tarquinia?
Registrations for Unpaved Roads Tarquinia will open on August 21st, 2023. To register, simply follow the simple online registration procedure directly on this site. Registrations are limited.
What kind of bicycle is it possible to participate?
Unpaved Roads was designed and developed for gravel road lovers. The gravel bicycle is the most suitable to participate but all types of bicycles are allowed including e-bikes.
Registrations are already closed, is there the possibility to participate anyway?
If registrations have already been closed there is no way to participate in Unpaved Roads. For this reason, we invite you to respect the registration deadlines.
I am registered, how will I follow the itinerary?
All participants will be provided with the GPS tracks of the routes (long and short). Each participant will thus be able to follow the itinerary correctly thanks to their own GPS device or smartphone application..
Medical certificate
You need to upload the certificate to the user profile you created during registration.

For all participants it is MANDATORY to present the medical certificate to the organization. Accepted certificates are:
- Certificate of fitness for the practice of sporting activity of particular and high cardiovascular commitment

- Competitive Medical Certificate for Cycling
The medical certificate must expire after October 22nd, 2023.
If the medical certificate is not compliant, it will be rejected and the member will have to forward a new compliant one within the set timeframe
Anyone who does not comply with this requirement will not be considered regularly registered and is not entitled to a refund of the registration fee.
Each participant must declare pursuant to the D.P.R. n. 445 of 28 December 2000 that the documents he forwarded are true and correspond to the originals in his possession
The valid certificate must be sent by email by October 1st 2023.
I am regularly registered but I cannot participate, is there a refund?
As per the regulations that you must read before registering, there is no refund / partial refund / transfer of registration to the following year / transfer of your registration to another person.
We do not ship the Event Pack.
Will I find refreshments along the way?
All participants will be able to enjoy the welcome drink (only on Saturday).
During the event there will be 2 refreshment points on the route (1 on the short route).
At the end of the event everyone will be able to participate in the final refreshment.
E-BIKE
Unpaved Roads are events open to e-bikes.
What should I bring?
All participants must be in possession of equipment for mechanical issues such as inner tube, pump and tire chaser. All participants must have adequate clothing according to the weather conditions.
During the event there is no mechanical service.
Can I rent a bike?
We will send to the participants a list of local bike rental shops.
Cancellation or shifting of the event
Cancellation – If, for reasons of force majeure that do not depend on the organization but on environmental and / or health reasons at national or international level, the event could not take place, the amount paid at the time of registration will not be refunded but will be considered valid for the next edition. The organization will be entitled, for those who re-register free of charge to the next edition, to a contribution for secretarial expenses and the renewal of the sports card.
Shifting of the event – Furthermore, for reasons of force majeure or other serious reasons, which could jeopardize the preparation of the event or the participation in it by a number of people not less than half of the members, the Organization reserves the right to move the place and / or date of the event within the same calendar year. In this case, the registration fee paid will be valid for the event on the rescheduled date, without any additional costs for the members. In this case, it is not possible to move the registration to the following year’s edition.
The event will be held in the event of inclement weather, subject to the provisions described above.
WHAT KIND OF EVENT IS UNPAVED ROADS?
The Unpaved Roads event takes place over a weekend, but don’t worry if you don’t have both days available. We thought of you too! The event is open to all people who wish to participate even only on Sundays.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON SATURDAY OCTOBER 21?
During the day of Saturday, there will be the registration of the participants at the event parcel collection point. It will be the perfect opportunity to meet other participants and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the event.
The welcome aperitif will make Saturday even more convivial. You can toast to the adventure that awaits you, make new friends and visit the stands of our sponsors.
Don’t forget the lottery draw! You will have the chance to win fantastic prizes offered by our sponsors and make your weekend even more special.

WHAT KIND OF EVENT IS UNPAVED ROADS?
The departure will take place as a group, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and sharing. At the crossroads, everyone can decide whether to take the “long route” or take the “short route”. The choice is yours!
During the long route, you will have two refreshment points at your disposal to recharge your batteries and taste the typical local products. In the short route, however, there will be a refreshment point to guarantee you a regenerating break.
At the end of the adventure, all participants will enjoy a final refreshment. You will have the opportunity to taste the famous local dishes, prepared according to tradition, together with other local delicacies.
We have thought of everything to make your weekend unforgettable. All you have to do is come with your bike and enjoy. We take care of the rest!
